This short course aims to introduce students to the setup, design and execution of still-life painting sketches, which are not only helpful for future compositional pieces, but can also be beautiful paintings in themselves. During the day students will be guided through a step-by-step process involving accurate and efficient drawing, with creative placement of objects on the canvas, true to life colour observation, and a varying of brush techniques for different textural effects. Composition, color, paint handling, and proper use of materials will all be discussed and explored. Using the direct method ( wet-on-wet ), participants will compose and paint a small still-life, from start to finish in 6 hours.
Previous drawing and painting skills are a plus but not required.
MATERIALS LIST WILL BE EMAILED BEFORE EACH SESSION’S DATE
